Trump just bombed Iran's nuclear facilities for Israel tonight. He will address the nation this evening from the Oval Office trying to assure Americans we are not getting any further involved. Now the question is, will Iran stand down, or will they escalate against lsrael and try to retaliate against the US and our interests? This could go either way. When he drone struck the Iranian general Solamoni in 2020 a lot of people thought that would spark a war, only to do nothing and forget all about it.
This could be a "one and done" attack, and not escalate things or involve the US any further. While I certainly don’t support any involvement in the problems of foreign countries, especially in the middle east, a lot of people act on fear and think world war III is always about to erupt and are now saying "Trump just started WWIII." I've seen too many people cry wolf over events in the middle east over and over for years, so I don't get worked up about what's going on over there, and neither should you. It’s disappointing Trump had the United States do the dirty work of lsrael (again), but it’s still way too early to proclaim that he has “started World War III” and that this will expand into a larger conflict.
Yeah, Iran could activate "sleeper cells" in the US but if they had any here, they likely would have been activated already. This attack would have been the trigger. There is a risk of lone wolf domestic terrorists who live among us who hate America and side with the Iranians and may do something stupid over the coming days. We would'n't even have to worry about that if we had sensible immigration policies and a unified culture in our country, instead of allowing countless millions of people to come here from all over the world.
At this point, to compare this to Iraq or him to George W. Bush is a major false equivalency. George W. Bush put boots on the ground over there. Trump did a drive by shooting. I'm still not defending him getting us involved over there, but to equate this with the Iraq war, at least at this point, is pretty dumb. And Trump certainly knows what happened to Bush's reputation and legacy, and doesn't want that to tarnish his brand, so my assessment is he views this as a big bitch slap against Iran, and doesn't expect any further involvement.
